Netanya Escote

Welcome to Episode #8!  Meet my wonderful professor, Lorena Jauregui.

A trained architect and experienced urban planner in Mexico, she has lived all across the planet and has now settled in Luxembourg doing her post-graduate studies. I have studied Green Product Lifecycle, Sustainable Cities and Transportation, and now Sustainable Food Systems with Ms. Lorena. Get a glimpse of the in-depth reflection we undergo in such classes -- with this episode!

In this episode, we reflect on how consuming, organising and producing information has been. With today's bombardment of news sources and the blinding nuances of difficult political, environmental and social topics, we ask, "How much information do you truly need until you can say you have understood the topic?"

Have you been curating a social media feed that only feeds you what you want to hear? Do we allow ourselves to learn about our opposing views and biases? Are we caught up in the red alerts and shocking slogans, and get caught up in caring until it's not loud on digital platforms? And finally, are you willing to invest your time into reading about topics that aren't easily agreeable and sell-able? Or worse -- write and share it yourself?

Hop on this conversation about how the nuances and grey lines are important in our objective learning, yet get overlooked. In this day and age of immense resources and access to data, we must also be mindful of our consumption.

The Common Table is a podcast by For The Common Green. We aim to give a microphone to the defenders of the planet, from academics, activists to community representatives! On a mission to protect stories, seek the truth and welcome all to share their position, perspective and plead. With a vision of an inclusive, curious, truth-seeking people and planet.
